Toy Guide for Women
Bewildered by the choice on offer? Don’t know your Duckie from your Rabbit? The Madame Rouge Toy Guide is below to guide you to making the right choice.

Dildos and vibrators have been around for centuries but it is not until recent years that they have become common place in society. Nowadays it seems that no self respecting woman is without her toy of choice. But if you’re not sure which is right toy for you, then read on…

What do you want from your toy...?
Firstly, what do you want to achieve with your toy? Each type of toy is specifically designed to work on a different part of your body. Broadly speaking you can choose from the following areas of stimulation; external ,G-spot, or penetrative.

When I received it, the packaging was beautiful, which added to the non sleaziness of my purchase. My female flat mate was so impressed; she asked if she could use the box to keep her jewelry in!

Charging a LELO vibrator is a bit like a mobile phone, it plugs in and you are best to allow it to charge up fully the first time. This means leaving it for a few of hours at least- you know when the re-charge is complete because the white LED light will stop blinking!

When you are using the controls there are 2 ways it works, the left and right side of the button disk changes the intensity of the vibrations from a gentle purr to a very strong intensity. By pressing the dial’s top and bottom button you can switch the mode of vibration from a steady vibration to pulsing modes.

There are 5 modes programmed to phase through; a steady vibration; a slow pulse followed by a more moderate pulse rate. For the crescendo there is a much faster pulse rate which can be finished with the pulsing wave designed to “ride” the waves of a women’s orgasm.

Despite the strong vibrations I had no issues with using LELO Gigi in my shared unit without everyone knowing exactly what I was up to!  Gigi is very quiet in comparison to the cheaper models on the market, and is definitely “thin wall approved”.

So to wrap up my review I’ll  conclude by saying that whilst the LELO Gigi is more expensive than other products on the market,  the benefits of it are more than outweighed by the style, form and function which LELO have put into this product!

External or Lay On Vibes

These toys are designed to massage your special places, and other external erogenous zones. Non penetrative they are ideal to be used either alone or with your partner.

For beginners the Layaspot by Fun Factory or rechargeable
LELO Nea (see above for review) are ideal. Use on your own or try with your partner. As a non penetrative vibrating massager these are safe to try with your man without giving him a fright!

For Bath Time Use
If you are going to want to use it in the bath or shower, then it needs to be waterproof, then the Layaspot by Fun Factory or Duckie  are perfect.

The Cone- for Something Completely Different!

Or for something completely different there's The Cone .  The Cone is a new innovation in sex toy pleasure. Don’t be fooled by its unusual shape, the hands-free design will leave you more than satisfied!

Rabbit Vibrators

The largest range of vibrator types has got to be the “rabbit”. These vibrators have a shaft and an additional arm which is usually shaped like a rabbits ears for clitoral stimulation. These work on the same principle as the external stimulators but have the added advantage of a rotating shaft (often containing beads) which rotates and stimulates internally.

Women love their rabbit vibrators, they are by far the most popular and widely purchased sex toy and now come in a wide range of colours and styles.

To steer you in the right direction, here's our favourites which are the iVibes from Doc Johnson.  We choose these as our favourites becuase they are phthalate free and also waterproof.

In addtion as they are made by the original rabbit manufacturer "Doc Johnson" they come with a one year manufactuer's warrantly and can be considered one of the more robust rabbit brands available.  Of course, we do stock other rabbit vibrators which vary in price, style and quality, but all come with a Madame Rouge Velvet bag and free batteries supplied ready for use.  Check out out Rabbit Section to see the full range.

The iVibe Rabbit by Doc Johnson, with stimulating pearls lining the soft ribbed shaft, the iVibe Rabbit is the next generation of the Rampant Rabbit made so famous by "Sex in the City". And it’s waterproof!

The Smaller Sister of the Rabbit

The Petite Rabbit , with stimulating pearls lining the soft ribbed shaft is the smaller, but perfectly formed sister of the larger iVibe rabbit.  Its also waterproof, but uses AAA batteries instead (which don't forget we supply as free to your order), along with a velvet drawstring bag to keep you bunny safew when not in use.

  Phthalates  used in Adult Toys

What are Pthalates?

Phthalates, pronounced "thal-ates"  are chemical softeners used to make PVC soft.  Used to make some sex toys "jelly rubber" like they are added to increase flexibility and texture to products.

Why is it important I know about  Pthalates?

Research has shown that phthalates may be hazardous to humans, and so their use in some sex toys is controversial.
Experts advise that this is one group of products that should be avoided until the controversy regarding phthalates has been resolved.

How do I know if a product contains  Pthalates?

Although Madame Rouge endevours to find pthalate free products for our customers, due to the popluarity of some products which do contain pthalates it is very hard to do this across the board as a policy on our entire range.

Instead. we indicate where a product is phthalate free by using a Product Feature logo like the one below.  The logo you will see appears under the Rouge Description and looks like this symbol below which reads "phthalate free".  For an example of this in practise please click through here

As a general rule for choosing your goodies by brand, LELO have a pthalate free range of products, as do Doc Johnson.
